Newport / Bellvue

"Preserving the Past, Preparing for the Future" is Bellevue's slogan.  Established in 1870, the community was named after a revolutionary hero James Taylor's Virginia Farm, Bellevue.  Its riverside location gives it one of the area's best views of the city skyline and lights.  There's a Renaissance Committee charged to promote revitalization activities on Fairfield Avenue, its designated renaissance area.  Joe's Crab Shack and Buckhead Mountain Grill are located on Port Bellevue.  There are antique and arts & crafts stores, and it's home to Christopher Bed & Breakfast, once the Bellevue Christian Church founded in 1889.  Affordable homes and newer condominiums and a short commute to downtown Cincinnati make Bellevue a popular choice with singles, first-time home buyers and middle-income families.  Currently, condos are being constructed as part of the $140-million Harbor Greene development.

Newport

Newport's beginning goes back to 1791.  Many of the houses and buildings, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, reflect this.  Its East Row Historic District offers homebuyers an eclectic selection of architectural styles such as Italianate, Queen Anne and Colonial Revival.  New home constructions, along Newport's riverfront, are planned.  There's the SouthShore, a $165-million condominium development, and the proposed $800-million residential and commercial development called Ovation.  A big draw is Newport's riverfront- to the $210-million Newport on the Levee, a food and entertainment complex, anchored by the Newport Aquarium.  Soon to come is the Newport Pavilion to be developed in Newport's Cote Brilliante neighborhood and anchored by Target and Home Depot.  More to experience here: The New Edgecliff Theater; World Peace Bell; festivals such as Newport Arts & Music Festival, Italianfest and Seafood Festival.  New popular dining spots include Hofbrauhaus, Jeff Ruby's Tropicana and Alex Chin's Pacific Moon on the Levee; among old-time favorites are Green Derby, Pompilio's and York St. Café.
